Trapped production day 2- November 24th 2011

The next day after we'd decided who was going to do what, We got cracking on the actual story line of our movie. I filled in a sheet telling the storyline of our movie under the sections Beginning, Middle and End. From the storyline we all contributed and put our own ideas into. Briefly our storyline shows a young girl and her friend walking through a school coridoor. She then forgets her phone so goes back to her classroom which is now empty to get it and ends up being locked in, from then on many strange things start to happen which makes her life hell,  a demon then rises from behind her who has been causing it all.

And heres our storyline planning:

Trapped production day 1- November 23rd 2011

In this session we was told what our task which was going to last for a month would be and it was to create a short horror movie lasting no less then 3 minutes in our group, With the tittle and them 'Trapped'. Our group just dedicated that whole day to the planning of our 'Trapped' movie, we all put in our ideas of what genre we thought our movie should be, who's going to play who and where our movie would be set, etc. After all our brainstorming we decided on all these and where ready for the next day.

This is a photo i took of Tom and Amy discussing plans for our movie.

'Trapped' Sound clip for intro and end credits

This session Me and Amy searched for the perfect scary sound clip to go along side our i stop motion intro and end credits. I searched through a lot of different websites and typed in a lot of different things but then found the what i thought was the perfect sound clip, I found this on Youtube. I then played the clip to the rest of group to see what they thought and they all agreed it was the one we were going to use. As they thought like me that it would suit nicely and give a very creepy to our i stop motion intro and end credits, And here it is so have a listen.

'Trapped' Test footage

In this session we took out one of the high quality HDVI video cameras, Dolly and the filming wheelchair. We had to fill in a booking form to take out our camera this made it feel more professional but also the ensures the camera and accessories get returned safely. Using the filming wheelchair tom filmed Me and Amy walking outside and down the corridor at different angles to mainly get a feel for the camera and equipment so we understand how it all works and operates. But also get a idea of what angles we might like to use and generally what its going to look like.

Shotlists/ Storyboard

We made a shotlist/ storyboard of our script, So you can see clearer what our shots will look like and it gives us space to write what is happening in these shots but also the type of shot it is. I personally think our shotlist/ Storyboard came out very well and you can see clearly what our film is going to look like purely just looking at our shotlist/ storyboard. Here they are.

Opening title planning

This lesson was asked to make a concept sheet of how our title and end credits would look on our 'Trapped' movie. So that we got the perfect designs we all brainstormed ideas on a spider diagram and then together choose and i then drew the perfect one.

This was the title i drew and we choose to use in our film, But as you will notice we then later on changed this initial idea, And decided to do a new title screen using eye stop motion and a slightly different font. These things tend to happen in a spure of the moment thing while filming as at the time you realise new ideas may look better than your initial ones.

Starting to film

While David was filming the part of the film where Tom and Amy are walking down the coridoor i took the time out to take some shots of this, As I'm not in this part of the film. We used the Dolly to help make our filming look less shakey and more consistant.

Costume sheet, Prop sheet and Location shots

This lesson i made a prop sheet up showing photos of the items that are going to be used in our film most, And some will play very key parts in our film so it was tough deciding on which props to use. These are the ones we chose.

A costume sheet was also made showing what each character will be wearing in the film. This was made after we decided what outfits would look best from the clothes we have and could get hold of, And here it is.

After a few discutions we all decided as a group we would film mainly in the classroom and in the corridor. Me and amy then took all the location shots of both of these places to get a feel of what it will look like, I took all different types of shot at different angles so you can really get a feel for it.

This was a fun lesson and i enjoy taking photos of places we are planning to film etc, then editing them so they are nicely layed out on photoshop and will continue to use this skill.

For this task we had to think about the target audience for our film and the kind of products they like, places they like to eat, the websites they visit and the programs they watch. All this research is to think were we should advertise for our film ideally in the places our target audience will go, in between the programs they watch and the web sites they visit. Overall this was a enjoyable task were i learnt tips for advertising which i will then use when we do simular tasks like this or in real life situations.

This shows all of this but in a spider diagram.

Key frame grid section.

The task we each drew different key frames of what each shot would look like in out 'Trapped ' movie they are rough steches but still tell the story and shows the characters which will be in it.

We all took part in a online quiz on www.findyourtribe.co.uk to find out what 'youth tribe' you are part of, At the end of my quiz it said i was a 'Trendie' i partly agree with this outcome but at the same point don't. Im not really much of a fan of Lily allen as it states however i do enjoy shopping in Topman which it also said. All in all i don't think its totaly correct but it could of been worse are parts of it are right.

My outcome ^

'Trapped' moodboard

Our task was to create a mood board on photoshop using images that are going to relate to our short movie we are making soon. As ours is mainly going to be based in a school i choose a pictures of  outside the school, Dark dingy looking classrooms,The locks that will move, school girls and schoolboys. But also a picture of what i think our monster/demon will be based on. I am pleased with how my mood board came out.

'Trapped' Initial planning

Our task was to think of our own ideas to base a short 3-5 minute film using 'Trapped' as the tittle in any any genre. BEGINNING: My initial idea was to have a young ish girl (amy) taking a stroll with here boyfriend (tom) but then suddenly remembers she's forgot something she needs from her house. MIDDLE: she then goes home to find a empty house runs up to her room to find what she forgot but the then the door  suddenly shuts behind her and locks start to turn etc. She then starts to act worried and wonder what's going on. END: The camera slowly turns to the scared girl (amy) and you see a strange scary looking monster (jake) behind her and she is non the wiser. Then the end credits will run.

These are my initial ideas written out.

Me, David and Amy then put all our ideas together and discussed them to come up with the perfect idea for our short movie. Our movie was mainly based on my ideas, But instead of the girl going for a random stroll we changed this to a girl with her boyfriend after class and she then relises she's left her phone behind in the classroom. As she walking to the class room there will be strange things happening behind her but she will be non the wiser (That is another change), multiple shadows behind her etc. Once she's in the class strange things then start happening as i planned locks start to turn, draws start to move in and out and the room gets darker. The girl then wonders what's going on scared and all shaken up banging on the door. Then to finish the camera slowly turns on the girl who seems to of given up with a Spirit ghost figure behind her starring into the camera (not a monster) and she doesent have a clue, then the film suddenly ends. The credits roll. This is what we all agreed on in group 3.

These is our group storyboard/ideas written out.

Logo ident production session

We then had to finally put our ideas into action using final cut express, Using layers and then made the logo move and made it into a short movie.

Logo research session

Our next task was to create our own company logo for a media company, But we couldent rush straight into it we had to first plan and research logo designs. from the start i knew i wanted to use a crown image because i think its very suited to logos and my company would be called 'Prime Productions' and i then made a few rough sketches of my logo idea.

Club Flyer.

Our next task was to create a club flyer on photoshop using the tools, images off flickr and skills we learnt in the last lesson plus a couple more and the flyer had to include a list of DJ's, time, venue, price and age limit. Once again i thought it went alright and was pleased with my final flyer design especially the colours.

Eye and earth

Our first task in level 2 media was: The Eye and Earth Exercise, this involved using photoshop which i had never used before and editing a image of an eye and of the earth together to make a combined image. I feel it went well considering i had no past experience of using photoshop and also now know how to use many tools on photoshop such as the Rectangle marquee tool and many more and will use these in future
